West Norfolk IPMS & Their Fundraising Success
The West Norfolk IPMS (International Plastic Modellers’ Society), is a club based in West Norfolk that meets at West Winch twice a month to discuss and show the models that club members make. The club has a current membership of around 25 and is a vibrant forum for discussion on all things to do with the hobby of model making ranging from those who have a go at making anything that takes their fancy to those that specialise in a particular genre or theme; Cars, Sci-Fi, Armoured vehicles, planes, figures, dioramas etc.
Part of the club’s constitution since its inception fifteen plus years ago was to donate to a charity and each year we select a charity for the club year that runs from July to June. The members always try to select a charity that is local to West Norfolk and has no central government funding if at all possible. In the past this has included West Norfolk Mind, The RNLI (Hunstanton lifeboat), North Norfolk Association for the Blind and others amounting to around 15 charities since the club started. The club has an annual show at Littleport and the profits from the shows are donated to the charity for that club year as well as what we collect each month at our meetings. The show is growing year by year and this year the club was able to donate £1883 to The Benjamin Foundation as our charity for the year.
It has been a real pleasure to be associated with The Benjamin Foundation over the last year and to be able to donate to the charity from what is essentially a hobby.
