Who We Are
We are a charity that exists to help people to deal with many of the challenges that life throws at them. We started in Norfolk in 1994, and in 2016 expanded into Suffolk.
Our work covers the following areas:
- Homelessness - Our accommodation centres for young adults provide support and a safe place to live while we help them get their lives back on track.
- Families - We support those who need help to strengthen family relationships.
- Children - We work with schools to support children with issues including bullying. We also provide childcare with our day nursery and pre and post-school clubs.
- Furniture stores - Our three stores raise money to support the rest of our work by selling donated furniture and electrical goods.
We have over 200 staff, in addition to our volunteers. Our services are spread around the county of Norfolk and beyond, from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth, and North Walsham to Thetford.
In 2016 we expanded into Suffolk with a Re-use Store opening at Foxhall, Ipswich.
Many of our staff are mobile and travel between the different schools we work in to provide support to pupils who need our help.
Our Corporate Office base is in Norwich and on a typical day there may be around 20 people working there in our HR, Finance and Marketing teams, plus others who manage many other services.
Some of our other services are based in the offices at our Norwich furniture store on Oak Street.
The Benjamin Foundation seeks to have a range of skills and experiences in its trustee body to complement the work of the Foundation and is always pleased to hear from anyone who believes in the ethos and focus of the charity and would like to offer time to support its work.
Our senior team comprises the people that run our charity day to day. They are shown as 'Officers to the Board' in the photographs opposite as they attend our Board meetings along with Trustees and make the major decisions about our charity as a group.
