We are pleased to confirm that we have joined the partnership of organisations commissioned by Norfolk County Council to deliver support to young carers and their families. We will be working with Caring Together, Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Young Carers, MTM Youth Services, Holt Youth Project, West Norfolk Carers and Suffolk Family Carers in a partnership managed by Voluntary Norfolk as part of the Carers Matter Norfolk service.
We have been delivering support to young carers for many years as part of the Boom! Positive activities service previously commissioned by Norfolk County Council. Working within the Young Carers Family Service partnership, we will now provide a 3 to 6 month targeted programme of group and one-to-one support for young carers in need in Norwich, Broadland and the North Walsham area, and connecting the parents and families of young carers to wider support networks.
Sharon Matthews, Director of Operations at The Benjamin Foundation said: “The Benjamin Foundation is really pleased to be working in partnership with Norfolk County Council, Voluntary Norfolk, Carers Matters Norfolk and many other providers to deliver this service for Young Carers. Young Carers will be able to access one-to-one support to support their well-being, attend groups and activities where they can meet other young people in a similar situation, and get a range of information, advice and guidance.
“Young Carers are often isolated from others their age because of the caring they are doing at home so often need a helping hand to be able to access the same opportunities as their peers. With funding from the Norfolk Superhero event and now from being part of this partnership, we are able to offer this support to these amazing children and young people.’
Maria Plumb of Voluntary Norfolk and Deputy Manager of the Carers Matter Norfolk service said: “We are delighted that The Benjamin Foundation are joining the partnership of organisations offering support to Young Carers and their Families. With their involvement we are able to offer a countywide network of support and we very much look forward to working with them.”

When I see the progress that a young person is making as a result of our sessions I feel a real sense of achievement.
