Thank you to everybody who supported our appeal

We are delighted to announce that our recent Summer of Hope fundraising appeal raised an amazing £11,300 to support the emotional wellbeing of local children and young people.

We received a huge amount of support; from businesses to individuals, and people who took on the challenge of completing 67 sit ups every day in July. Their support can help more children and young people in Norfolk and Suffolk to improve their mental health and overcome their challenges around confidence, self-esteem following Covid, and to finally feel supported to cope with their unique challenges.

Recent research by Young Minds revealed that 67% of young people they surveyed in January 2021 believe that the pandemic will have a long-term negative effect on their mental health. (Source: youngminds.org.uk)

Jordan, aged 21 is one of the people who has benefitted from our charity’s support. Resident at one of our local accommodation centres, Jordan is no stranger to challenges with his mental health and credits the charity with helping him to gain strength, build his self-esteem and independence:

“Mental Health is like a pitch-black room where the light doesn’t work.” Jordan explains. “You just have a torch but keeping it on all day, every day is tiring. Nobody can hold that torch for 24 hours a day – you get exhausted. You need somebody to help you fix the light.”

Jordan continues: “I can credit a lot of my confidence and independence to them [The Benjamin Foundation]. I know it’s in you all along – you just need the circumstances to unlock it and it wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t come here.”

To all those who supported the appeal, from sponsors, participants in our Sit Up 67 challenge, those who made donations or offered their support and expertise, we can’t thank you enough for helping more young people like Jordan to finally feel hopeful of a better future.

It’s not too late to make a donation to the Summer of Hope appeal. Donate today: https://benjaminfoundation.co.uk/donate/summerofhope/
