Sharon Matthews

Director of Operations (Children, Young People and Families)

My Job

I offer strategic and operational management support to a range of services supporting children and young people. These include our childcare services, youth work services and also Butterfly House, our residential offer for young people with learning difficulties/disabilities. I work closely with the rest of the senior management team to keep these services sustainable and to look for new development opportunities.

Personal Profile

My background is in education and I was a secondary teacher for 16 years. I joined The Benjamin Foundation in 2007 via working for other charity projects and a stint at Aviva.

I am Norfolk born and bred and very proud of my home county. I am a fan of sport and am a Norwich City FC season ticket holder.

The Benjamin Foundation have helped me gain independence, confidence, self-esteem and I have discovered more about myself. They have given me great opportunities and I am ever so grateful to be a part of it. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I’d be today. Thank you for shaping my life and giving me hope for a future.
