Meet Up, our youth and community centre in Thetford, has been recognised by national charity, Tender, for providing outstanding support to local young people.

On the 28th June, members of the Meet Up team were invited down to London, to attend Tender’s Annual Award Celebration. Tender, a charity working with young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence, invited star patrons, such as Olivia Colman, Aisling Bea and Amy-Leigh Hickman to celebrate the admirable contributions of people and communities who provide valuable support to young people.

Meet Up, located on Thetford’s Redcastle Furze Estate, is a youth and community centre which supported over 200 young people last year. Through a wide range of youth clubs, toddler groups and an older person’s lunch club, Meet Up offers opportunities to reduce feelings of isolation and boost emotional wellbeing.

For the Meet Up team (Mike Towndrow, Ali Brown, Sofi Lynch, Hannah Hinson and Becky Vasey) this award for outstanding youth work celebrates the valuable support that Meet Up provides for the local Thetford community and helping people to flourish on their journey to independence.

Quote Marks Left The Benjamin Foundation has given me a sense of confidence and comfort. I feel a sense of normality when I speak to the staff but also in the independence I am given; they are always there for me and my needs. I have learnt to not be so stressed, anxious and depressed about certain situations, I have learnt a lot about money and budgeting. I now feel so much more confident about myself and the fact that I can now move forward in life.
