During the Summer, a group from Meet Up (our Big Lottery funded youth and family centre in Thetford) and a group of Young Carers from North Walsham and Great Yarmouth visited Kingswood activity centre in Overstrand, Norfolk for a two-night residential trip.

Overstrand Hall provided a stunning setting and there were plenty of activities and new challenges for the young people to try. ‘Nightline’ – an obstacle course to complete blindfolded, encouraged communication skills among the group as they guided each other around, supported by the Kingswood team. There was also great fun tackling the climbing wall, and the ‘Leap of Faith’ – a ten metre climb before jumping to grab a trapeze.

Thank you to the Reepham and Holt Rotary Clubs, whose fundraising helped to support some of the places on the residential trip for Young Carers. Visits such as these are super experiences for the young people we support; many of them would not otherwise have the opportunity to go on such trips and try new challenges to push boundaries and build their confidence. A great time was enjoyed by all!

The Benjamin Foundation have helped me gain independence, confidence, self-esteem and I have discovered more about myself. They have given me great opportunities and I am ever so grateful to be a part of it. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I’d be today. Thank you for shaping my life and giving me hope for a future.
