Can you step out to help end youth homelessness this Winter?

By taking part in our Big Winter Walk, you can help local vulnerable young people to take their next steps towards independence.

Like most charities, the effect of COVID-19 has been hard-hitting. The latest restrictions and lockdown announced for November 2020 have once again forced the temporary closure of our Norfolk Furniture Stores and Suffolk Re-use Shops, resulting in an immediate loss of money for our charity. In addition, many fundraising events to support our charity continue to be cancelled or deferred.

Our front-line services are still supporting local, vulnerable young people:

Our work to prevent local youth homelessness does not stop. We have accommodation services supporting vulnerable young people aged 16-25 across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Our colleagues are delivering front-line, essential services to over 100 local, vulnerable young people each day, each night, 365 days a year, giving them a safe place to live, support and the skills they need to forge independent lives.

We are also continuing to remotely support vulnerable families and young carers too.

Take part anytime:

This is a remote, virtual challenge meaning you can complete it in your own time, at your own pace.

We are using fundraising platform Give Penny for this challenge, which will allow you to set your fitness tracker or app and choose from one of our two Big Winter Walk challenges while fundraising for us at the same time:

  • Steps Challenge: Set your Fitbit or other tracker and aim to walk a set number of steps by an end date, or a set number of steps per day.
  • Miles Challenge: Use Strava, Runkeeper or keep a track another way of the miles you aim to walk by an end date, or set a number of miles to walk per day.

Please fundraise for your challenge, which you can also do via Give Penny. If you reach your target, fantastic – keep going!

All those who register and take part in The Big Winter Walk will receive a Benjamin Foundation butterfly pin badge as a thank you. If you raise over £50, you will receive a Benjamin Foundation beanie hat. Raise over £150 and receive a special ‘Winter Warmer’ pack with a few extra goodies!

Together while apart:

Take part by yourself or join up with friends and colleagues virtually, it’s great to take part as a team!

The only stipulation is that you keep yourself and others safe and follow all current Government advice and restrictions relating to Covid-19. Choose your walks, location and times carefully to not put yourself at any risk.

We’d like each person taking part in The Big Winter Walk to fundraise to get our charity through a difficult time – every penny you raise helps us to tackle youth homelessness locally, giving more young people, who haven’t had the best start in life, a safe home, support and the skills they need to go on to lead successful, independent lives.

Even though we are staying safe by staying apart, you can still feel part of our fundraising community by sharing your photos and tagging us on social media @charitytbf and #TBFBigWinterWalk

Watch out for our regular photo challenges too!

Thank you for supporting The Benjamin Foundation by taking part in The Big Winter Walk.
