We are encouraging local people to embrace the concept of reuse by attending a special demonstration at our Dereham Furniture Store.
We’re pleased to be partnering with interiors expert Nick Spencer of The Rocky Crystal Interiors for the demonstration of using Annie Sloan chalk paint to give furniture a new lease of life.
With awareness of environmental issues such as climate change and cutting down on waste on the increase, many people are now considering the impact on future generations and reuse is just one of the ways they can take a different approach and make a positive change.
Nick is a supporter of The Benjamin Foundation and the Dereham Furniture Store and he has already inspired others about reuse by holding an Annie Sloan chalk paint demonstrations in store earlier this year. The next demonstration will be held on Friday 18th October.
Nick says: “I’m glad to help The Benjamin Foundation – it’s a great cause. I was once homeless in my early 20s so it’s a charity close to my heart. Not only do The Benjamin Foundation furniture stores raise money to support the charity’s work locally, but they provide people with a way of passing on furniture and household goods in a sustainable way, which helps to reduce waste and landfill.”
Nick continues: “The demo will include how easy it is to use Annie Sloan chalk paint to transform a tired piece of furniture into something more on-trend. It will also explore methods and techniques to get the most from the items you’re working with.”
Dereham Store Manager, Paul Sinclair adds:
“We’re proud to be part of the Reuse Network – a national scheme which supports local members to help their own communities. We’re keen to encourage people to think differently and consider reuse and upcycling, so we are looking forward to welcoming Nick back to the store to share his expertise.”
