On Saturday 1st February, 80 people attended a special ‘Real Life Clu’doo’ event in support of our charity, organised by Award Winning Corporate Events Company, Right Angle Events.
The CSI-themed afternoon gave teams of friends and families an opportunity to channel their ‘inner sleuth’ to examine evidence and solve clues to solve a crime. Based around the board game Cluedo but rooted with real science, participants were able to investigate a crime scene, carry out a forensic test in each ‘room’ and use their analytical skills in order to solve the case.
The event was a hands-on experience designed to offer a real taste for what a crime scene investigation entails. It was designed and ran by Steve Gaskin a former Senior Investigator in the Metropolitan Police Service, who has investigated serial killings and linked crime scenes. He is an adviser for BBC’s Silent Witness as has used his knowledge to create this real life event experience that is delivered through his company, Right Angle Events.
Right Angle Events have been proud supporters of our charity through our 25th anniversary year in 2019 and concluded their year of support with their CSI-style event.
Steve says: “It has been a real delight working with The Benjamin Foundation as our firm’s Charity of the Year. It was particularly important as The Benjamin Foundation were in their 25th year serving our great community.”
“Right Angle were able to produce some exciting events such as “Real Life Clu’Doo”, lecturers on various aspects of Criminal Psychology together with friends from the Foundation. We also loaned out our garden games, which are available to any Norfolk charity. We applaud The Benjamin Foundation for all their work over the past 25 years.”
The event was brilliantly supported by participants who enthusiastically took part in all the tasks, keen to test their investigative skills to the max.
Event Organiser for The Benjamin Foundation, Anna Ede says:
“It was really lovely to see nearly 80 people come together to try and solve the case. There were teams of people of all ages working together to dust for fingerprints, analyse hair samples, identify DNA to work out who the suspect was and to draw them using e-fit technology.”
Anna continues: “Steve Gaskin, Director of Right Angle Events delivered an engaging, informative and fun event that was enjoyed by all. We appreciate everything Steve and his team at Right Angle Events have done to support us and we would like to say a big thank you. This event alone raised around £500 which really does make a big difference to our charity.”
Thank you to Steve, Right Angle Events and everybody who supported and attended the Real Life Clu’doo event!
