Meet... Stephen Ede

Trustee since 2013

Tell us about your career

My career to date has been quite varied, having started working as a labourer on building sites from leaving school and then as a contracts manager for a cleaning company taking the company from regional to national! I Then moved into sales and held many different roles across 10 years working for The Royal Bank of Scotland, managing many different sales teams and later on IT analysis and development teams. On leaving RBS I moved to Kier and across the last 4 years have worked as IT Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Senior Strategic Solutions Analyst and currently working as a Solution Architect where I'm heavily involved in creation and development of the Architecture function within Kier, mainly focusing on the Business and Application layers.

Why did you decide to become a Trustee?

I had been looking for a way to better support local charities for a while and had worked with a couple of other local charities to help develop strategy, business process and supporting applications. Working with a charity as a Trustee was something I felt I could commit to and hopefully add value based on my skillset. I had always been impressed by the support provided to the young people of Norfolk by The Benjamin Foundation and it stood out as a charity I wanted to work with.

Tell us a bit about yourself
I'm local to Norfolk, born and raised in Great Yarmouth and moved to Norwich at 16 where I currently live with my partner Helen and our 2 boxer dogs. Outside of work I enjoy walking, football (more watching these days..), running, snooker and the occasional game of tennis.
