Norwich Furniture Store: Generous Donations Ensure Good Quality Items For Customers
Our Furniture Stores form part of the work we do in Norfolk and Suffolk. Our stores in Norwich, Dereham and Holt are open to the public and we sell good quality used furniture and electrical goods. Our Re-use shop at the Foxhall Household Waste Recycling Centre in Ipswich sells a wide range of items which have been donated by people across the county.
All our stores take in donated items and the profits made by selling them helps to fund our other work with local children, young people and families who face challenges in their lives.
Ross is a Driver and Sales Assistant at our Norwich Furniture Store based on Oak Street, just five minutes from the city centre. We spoke to him about the work of the store and his role in the collection of donated items and delivery of purchased furniture.
“We deliver and collect donated furniture from Norwich and the surrounding area.” He explains.
“The most enjoyable part is working with the team at Oak Street. I also enjoy meeting customers. We have several regulars and it’s always good to have a chat and a catch up with them.
“A good deal of my time is spent on the road for collections and deliveries. People are very generous in what they donate and the quality is amazing; one gentleman donated over thirty items – it was two van loads! There were some beautiful, unique hand-painted pieces of furniture amongst them which sold very well. People like to know that their unwanted furniture can be used to help others.”
The Norwich stores offers free customer parking. With a relaxed feel and a warm welcome, visitors comment about how tidy and well laid out it is.
“People often mention that they were unaware that the shop exists and when they do visit us, they are amazed by our stock.” He continues. “The ‘homely’ feel to the layout of the store helps them to picture how the furniture might look in their own home.”
For Ross, it’s the quality of the furniture, the affordable prices and the efficiency of service which really stands out.
“People are surprised at how well we clean and the standard of donated items, and of course the service that we provide. They are never ‘just another customer.”
The Norwich Furniture Store is open Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am – 4:00pm at St Edmunds House, 103 Oak Street, Norwich, NR3 3BP. Free customer parking is available at the front of the store.
