The Butterfly Walk 2016
High Lodge, Thetford Sunday 10th July
Our third Butterfly Walk will be taking place this year at High Lodge near Thetford on Sunday 10th July. We created the event as something that all ages could take part in together - it's about enjoying time with family and friends not an endurance event. The three mile circular route will take you through some of the beautiful natural environment of Thetford Forest.
You may well see butterflies on the way but the walk takes its name from our bright logo which is made up of four speech bubbles. This symbolises that our work is so often about having a close dialogue with the people we support locally.
This year all funds raised will be going to our Meet Up centre in Thetford. Since opening in 2010 it has helped over 1,000 children, families and senior citizens in the local community. The building is in need of vital repairs so a fundraising campaign was launched earlier this year in a bid to raise at least £30,000.
The services we offer at Meet Up include:
Twice weekly youth clubs attended by over 100 young people aged 9 - 16
Daytime drop in for 16-24 year olds not in regular education, employment and training. They are supported with job searching and CV writing, plus life skills like budgeting and cooking healthy meals.
A weekly parent and toddler group
Senior citizens lunch club
Check in with us at our marquee which will be in front of the main cafe at High Lodge.
You can start the Walk any time from 10am to 3pm.
Along the route there will be signs featuring our bright butterfly logo and on each one there will be a separate general knowledge question for children and adults. These are mostly for fun but the winner in each category will receive a prize.
Remember to come back to our marquee to hand in your answers when you have finished.
We'll have a tombola, hook-a-duck, signed Norwich City football raffle and lots of information about our charity in our marquee.
The cost to take part is £5 per adult and free for children. In addition you will need to pay High Lodge's usual parking fee in the same way as all other visitors.
There is lots to do at High Lodge so you may want to make a day of it , visit their website HERE. It has details about the paths, we are using the Fir Trail, dogs, the cost of car parking and much more.
